The Torch Run for the State Games was a tremendous success!

The 2011 Torch Run for the Special Olympics of Alabama State Games was held May 19th. The Torch Run started out in Pelham on Friday morning and made it's way south, stopping in Montgomery for a special ceremony and then on to Troy. The State Games Opening Ceremony convened on Friday evening in the Troy University football stadium. Over 50 uniformed officers and deputies formed a rank along the front of the stage as the Flame passed through. On Saturday morning, Torch Run officers were on hand at competition venues throughout the area. One of the highlights of the day was the Medal Tent at the Track and Field events that was staffed entirely by ALETR personnel. Thanks to everyone that participated.
