2010 Itinerary

 Thank you for your interest in the 2010 Alabama Law Enforcement Torch Run! This is an annual event to involve law enforcement personnel across the state to support Special Olympics. The Torch Run is a running event where law enforcement officers and Special Olympics athletes run the “Flame of Hope” into the Opening Ceremonies of Special Olympics competitions. The officers who carry the Flame have proudly become known as the “Guardians of the Flame.” Below you will find an itinerary for this year’s Torch Run. The events begin in Decatur on May 13th and end on May 14th at the Opening Ceremonies for the 2010 Special Olympics State Games.

ITINERARY 

Thursday, May 13, 2010 

0800 – 0900                Registration for runners, Decatur City Hall, 402 Lee Street NE

 

0900 – 0945                Light Ceremony and Run in Decatur

 

0945 – 1030                Convoy to Hartselle

 

1030 – 1130                Light Ceremony and Run in Hartselle

 

1130 – 1230                Lunch

 

1230 – 1300                Convoy to Cullman

 

1300 – 1330                Registration for runners

 

1330 – 1400                Light Ceremony and Run in Cullman

 

1400 – 1500                Convoy to Birmingham

 

1500 – 1530                Registration for runners

 

1530 – 1600                Light Ceremony and Run in Birmingham

 

1600                            Convoy to Pelham for overnight stay

              
Friday May 14, 2010 

0800 – 0830                Registration for runners, Pelham Civic Center, 500 Amphitheater Road

 

0830 – 0930                Light Ceremony and Run

 

0930 – 1030                Convoy to Montgomery to Patterson Field to stage for run

 

1030 – 1115                Torch Run leg in Montgomery and

Ceremony with Attorney General on steps of Capitol    

 

1115 – 1300                Lunch in Attorney General’s office then bus back to vehicles

 

1300 – 1400                Convoy to Troy

 

1400 – 1445                Light Ceremony and Run in Troy

 

1445                            Conclusion of Torch Run

 

1500 – 1630                Hotel registration at Holiday Inn for runners staying overnight in Troy

 

1700                            Dinner at Hotel

 

1800                            Leave for Opening Ceremony

 

1900                            Opening Ceremony then return to hotel
